SV001 Introduction to Safe Servicing w/L-24 PRP        Instructor:  Michael E. Oehlert, CMST, CPL

This class is designed for the locksmith who does not feel comfortable doing safe service calls and would like to begin earning money immediately doing safe work. The major learning objective is to add the specialty of professional safe servicing to your offerings and to build confidence and ability in this field. You will learn to recognize your limitations so you can make an informed decision regarding what safe work you can do and what work should be referred to a more experienced safe technician. Most safe lockout service calls can be solved by using logical dialing techniques without the need to penetrate the container. The class will cover terminology, identification, combination changing, dialing diagnostics, and opening procedures such as manipulation, drilling, and change keyhole scoping. Attendees will learn what technical information and tools are available in order to make an informed decision as to what tools to add and in what order. They will also learn how to obtain GSA container work and how to access the DOD hotline, provided free to locksmiths by the DOD. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP Section L- 24, L-33, and STPRP Section S-00. ALOA members who pay the additional $15.00 lab fee for the test may take PRP Section L-24 at the end of the class.
